ABOUT ABOUT

Cardiac Arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the USA. Each year, more than 350,000 people experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital, and less than 50% receive bystander CPR.  People who receive bystander CPR after cardiac arrest are up to 3 times more likely to survive.  TOGETHER we can increase CPR awareness and save more lives!!

On July 1st, 2017,  Alicia Bravo (RN, Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) Emergency Department) experienced sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in her home town of Cambridge, WI while swim training for a triathlon. Her family immediately began CPR and continued until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived.  The immediate CPR performed by her family and the skill & equipment of the Cambridge EMS saved her life.

October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest month and Alicia created this event to use her story to raise awareness & inspire others to learn CPR and be confident to step in to save a life. Every second counts and everyone can help!

Come with your family, friends, and neighbors to learn 'Anytime CPR'.  You will participate in a hands-on session led by HCMC EMS staff,  learning how to "pump" (perform CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) ... all while having a "pint" of beer at Surly Brewery.

All proceeds will go to the Cambridge (WI) Area EMS. Their staff is comprised of approximately 45 volunteer EMTs and a small number of paid, part-time staff.  They serve 5 regional communities spanning 70 square miles and are in service 24/7/365.  An important source of funding is through donations--which goes towards equipment such as AEDs, LUCAS machines, CPR mannequins updated to AHA standards, and a new ambulance.

Tickets are $25 and include CPR/AED training, one beer and light appetizers.  Dining at Surly is avaiable in the main hall before and after the event.

If you are interested in supporting but cannot attend, there is a Donation Only option in the 'Tickets' section.

You can find a link here to purchase t-shirts and merchandise through One Mission with a logo created by Alicia based on her experience. It includes an illustration of a heart with an arrow and the words BE BRAVE.  An arrow can only go forward after being pulled backwards.  40% of each product purchased will be donated to Cambridge EMS.
